Abstract: This study investigates differences in effects arising from a transformational versus transactional leadership framework in the policing context. The study tested three hypotheses, variously, that transformational leadership factors add to the prediction of follower empowerment, extraordinary effort, and follower satisfaction and effectiveness, beyond that of transactional leadership factors.
