Abstract: This project seeks to examine the literature addressing the problems of library users when interacting with innovative library computer information systems focusing on Online Public Access Catalogs and to develop a Computer-Assisted Instruction program to assist library users in gaining access to available resources so that the latter will become more confident when locating information and be able to make effective use of OPACs. The purposes of the project are: a) to develop a CAI program based on the instructional objectives for teaching online catalogs use in libraries and b) to evaluate and refine a CAI program in relation to the preferred learning approaches and needs of the intended audience: undergraduate students.
