Abstract: This thesis reports on the analysis, design and development of the Flexible Intelligent Cell Controller (FICC). The software framework, that is designed for the FICC, is used for the rapid development of a cell control system. The cell control application is used to control the production of a Flexible Manufacturing System (FMS) that is set in a Computer-Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) environment.
