dc.description.abstractCAD data exchange is becoming important as more and more CAD/CAM users recognise the benefits of integration among CAD/CAE/CAM systems. However, the state of the graphical data exchange environment leaves much to be desired as there are often the problems of translation errors, transmission problems, interpretation problems, etc. Intermediate file format translators such as DXF, IGES, SET, etc., were created with the intention of helping to resolve the data exchange problems. These standards are also subject to the problems of interpretation and usage.en_US
