Title: | Taking and displaying stereographic images | Authors: | Teo, Cheng Yong. | Keywords: | DRNTU::Engineering::Electrical and electronic engineering::Electronic systems::Signal processing | Issue Date: | 2009 | Abstract: | This research deals with the taking and displaying of the stereographic images. For the first part, the report talks about the different techniques to take stereo pair images. The first technique will be using a single camera, where a tripod and sliding bar is needed to take the stereo pair. For this technique, the left image is taken first then the camera is slide to the right for 65mm before another picture is being taken again. This technique is only suitable to take static objects and the left and right pictures need to be taken in a short period so that external factors such as the moving of clouds will not affect the composition of the picture. The next technique will be using 2 synchronized cameras to take the stereo pair. This technique eliminates the need to slide the camera as the pictures will be taken together at the same time. This also removes the time constraint for taking the picture, therefore this technique is suitable for fast moving objects but this technique is more expensive and not applicable to take close-up stereo pair. The third technique will be taking the stereo pair using 2 lens on a camera. This technique reduces the cost and retains the benefits of using 2 synchronize cameras but the resolution will be half of the original resolution of the camera. The final technique will be using a single image to create an auto stereogram using StereoMaker. Next, the research will touch on the various techniques to take note when taking a stereo pair. After which, the research will talk about the technique to display the pictures. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10356/20837 | Schools: | School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering | Rights: | Nanyang Technological University | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
