Abstract: 随着中国的崛起,华文的地位在新加坡日益重要。新加坡政府多年来所推行的双语教育政策及讲华语运动,究竟取得了怎样的成果?这些措施对新加坡华族儿童的华语学习又有什么影响?这些都是值得研究的问题。词汇是语言的基本要素,采用词汇测试是检验新加坡华族儿童华语能力的最佳途径。4-8岁的儿童正处于学前学后的阶段,以这个年龄段的儿童作为被试,将有助于了解教育及家庭对儿童华语词汇发展的影响。本研究包括问卷调查及语言测试两个部分。问卷调查主要收集儿童的语言背景、家庭状况、家庭语境、父母的语言及背景资料。语言测试主要采用PPVT-4的图片,以中英文词汇测试的方式,更清楚的了解儿童的华语词汇能力。最后将测试结果结合问卷所得变量,输入SPSS系统检验,找出有显著相关性的结果,即影响儿童华语词汇能力及双语词汇发展不平衡的因素予以讨论,并根据所获语料进行内部分析,找出儿童华语词汇习得的实况。此外,本文也着重探讨提升儿童华语词汇能力的一些方法及其重要性。Due to the rise of China, Chinese language has achieved a more important position in Singapore. What are the achievements of the Bilingual Education Policy and Speak Mandarin Campaigns which have been carried out for years by the Singapore Government? What is the impact on Chinese language learning of Singapore Chinese children? These are the questions worth investigating. Lexicon as a key element of language is the best way to evaluate the Chinese language ability of Singapore Chinese children. Knowing how children aged 4-8, at the pre-school and after school stage perform in vocabulary tests will enable a better understanding of the effect of education and family on the children’s Chinese lexical acquisition and development.
