Title: Adolescent pre-marital pregnancy : the impregnator and marriage as a resolution
Authors: Nadzirah Azman

Issue Date: 2010
Abstract: This paper examines marriage as a resolution to adolescent pre-marital pregnancy. Marriage is mainly decided by the male impregnators and not the pregnant adolescents. The older age of the impregnators relative to the pre-marital pregnant adolescents is related to employment which provides for the financial ground for child caretaking responsibilities to be carried out. In turn, the financially dependent pregnant adolescents then perceive marriage merely as a resolution to provide for child caretaking finances, influencing further family expansion for the young adolescent family.
