dc.description.abstract | Practitioners have mainly used metallic implants such as a titanium alloy device inserted within the intervertebral disc space. Main considerations are to provide an immediately stable motion segment, promoting fusion and long-term relief of symptoms. Research and development of implantation with bio-materials to replace the traditional methods with metal materials is underway all over the world. This project is to develop a software system for design and simulation of artificial bone implantation, with the experiments of the physical model fabrication and clinical test. It is an interdisciplinary research project between staff from computer engineering and materials engineering, with the support of clinical staff from Singapore General Hospital (SGH). | en_US |
