Abstract: This study seeks to develop an information extraction system focusing on cause-effect information. The system is developed to make use of linguistic clues to identify and extract cause-effect information that is explicitly expressed in text. The approach adopted is the pattern matching and slot filling approach typically used in Information Extraction systems.
