dc.description.abstractThe thesis describes the design behind the system and how it overcomes inherent difficulties present in Java. It also includes a description of an implementation of the system and a series of adaptations of real world applications such as local sequence alignment. Using these applications a set of experiments were conducted to compare the performance of Unison with another Java applet based distributed computing system.en_US
