Abstract: The post-genomic era is characterized by large amount of data available from sequencing projects. The large size of biological datasets, inherent complexity of biological problems and the ability to deal with error-prone data all result in large runtime and memory requirements. Using parallel computing to solve computational genomics problems efficiently is therefore widely used approach.
