Abstract: There is a growing deployment of the technology of Mobile Ad-hoc network (MANET) in the commercial world, especially in Inter-Vehicular Communication Systems (IVCS) over the recent years. A group project called BUSNet was initiated to study the performance of MANET routing algorithms for IVCS in a city environment, in which the public buses form the communication backbone. The focus of my research work in this project is to develop MANET routing protocols for the BUSNet. My main contribution to the project is the development of a novel local recovery mechanism and a position-based routing protocol, which caters to the characteristics of IVCS in a city environment.
