Title: | Optical fibre data link for local area network applications | Authors: | Subramanian, Krishnappa R. Lee, Brian. |
Keywords: | DRNTU::Engineering::Electrical and electronic engineering::Computer hardware, software and systems | Issue Date: | 1992 | Abstract: | Use of coaxial cable is limited by its characteristics such as attenuation, bandwidth and susceptibility to electromagnetic interference. With the increased speed of transmission (data rate), there is a need for a suitable transmission medium. As such, an optical fiber-based interface has been designed and fabricated for IBM PC/AT orcompatible computers. A basic networking software has been developed. An experimental fibre optic local area network has been implemented. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10356/2975 | Schools: | School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering | Rights: | Nanyang Technological University | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
