Abstract: This dissertation first evaluates the development in software agents, agent technology and toolkits for building software agents. We will then focus on collaboration agents and user assistant agents in an Internet auction application. Using the proposed mailbox mechanism, the application is implemented by using three components - reused scripts, collaborative agents and the user assistant agent portion.
