Abstract: In this work, a 12-pulse bridge topology is introduced to current source and voltage source PWM rectifier. After combining PWM-SHE switching patterns, the switching frequency of every switch is significantly reduced, comparing with corresponding 6-pulse topology. During derivation of the PWM-SHE switching pattern proposed in this work, Genetic Algorithm (GA) concept is developed to “pre-calculate” the nonlinear equations governing the switching angles.
