Issue Date: 2004
Abstract: In this dissertation, we investigate the control system design for unstable processes with various control schemes, e.g., conventional PID control, IMC based PID control, set point weighted PID control and Pseudo derivative feed back based PID control. In extension, we conducted the comparative study of these control schemes with their control effects, robustness, performance specifications and load disturbance attenuation. Advance PID tuning for integrating and unstable processes with gain and phase margin specifications are proposed. In our proposed method, simple formulas are derived to tune the parameters of PID controllers for integrating and unstable processes with time delay to meet gain and phase margin specifications.
