Title: | The significance of time and consciousness in the Sound and the Fury. | Authors: | Lim, Michelle Bao Ling. | Keywords: | DRNTU::Humanities::Literature::English | Issue Date: | 2010 | Abstract: | In the first part of the essay, we will look at how Faulkner uses internal time as a tool to dramatize the inner destruction of Benjy and Quentin. Since the process of destruction is internal, the focus is placed on the ways in which Faulkner tries to represent the inner monologues and consciousness of these two characters. As we move on to Jason’s narrative, we will look at the ways in which Faulkner uses Jason’s experience of time to depict the utter loss of the Southern values, which were once upheld by the Compson family. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10356/35496 | Schools: | School of Humanities and Social Sciences | Rights: | Nanyang Technological University | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
