Content management and metadata tagging are important in today's web portals, internet resources and digital libraries (DL) as they facilitate in searching and discovery of the relevant information resources. This study addresses the issues of resource discovery in DLs and the importance of knowledge organization tools to be utilized in building DLs. Recognizing the importance of hierarchical classification of contents by subjects, the primary objective of this study was to develop the taxonomy structure in categorizing the contents for Greenstone Digital Library (GSDL) software. The proposed methodology introduces the five basic processes that helped to develop the taxonomy structure to be usable in GSDL.en_US
