dc.description.abstractA medical endoscope is a tool commonly used for medical diagnostic and treatment purposes. A lens-based endoscope consists of a camera mounted on a tube, that is inserted into the human tract. Images captured by endoscopes facilitate examination and treatment of regions inside the patient. These images are commonly subject to image processing to either enhance or segment out a region of interest for better decision making, by employing a wide range of image processing algorithms. However, not much has been done to process the video stream on the fly, during the endoscopic procedure due to computational complexities of these image processing algorithms.en
