Abstract: The overall aim of this thesis was to analyze the structure-function relationship of p2 integrins under resting and activated conditions. The integrins are heterodimeric adhesion receptors formed by the non-covalent association of an a and a p subunit, both of which are type I membrane glycoproteins. The leukocyte integrins are a subfamily whose members (LFA-1, Mac-1, p150,95 and aDß2) share a common ß2 subunit.
