Abstract: The reform of the Indonesian National Police is an important part of the Security Sector Reform agenda in Indonesia. The Reformasi in Indonesia has resulted in the separation of the Police from the Indonesia Armed Forces. This separation was followed by series of informal competitions between both institutions. They both made significant organizational changes to enable them to improve their performances in gaining community respect. However, the competition between both organizations has led to number of conflicts between their personnel that have resulted in high number of casualties. Majority of the conflicts were between the Indonesia Armed Forces and the Mobile Brigade assigned as a special unit within the Indonesia National Police.
