Abstract: The scope of this project is to understand the existing commercially available IGBT soft switching problem and to propose a new IGBT structure that is suitable for soft-switching application. Based on the simulation results and experiment results a new dual-gate bidirectional IGBT structure is proposed for soft switching application.
