Abstract: The rise of the Maoist movement in Nepal makes an effort to do a comprehensive study on the thirteen years long Maoist insurgency. The paper includes areas of diverse nature and scope with origin, growth, ideological background, dynamics, ethnicity, class, caste system and perspectives. The Maoist agenda of restructuring the state, monarchy and the Maoists insurgency and both diagnostic and prognostic aspects have been highlighted.
