Abstract: The phase retardation response characterization of Spatial Light Modulator in twisted nematic liquid crystal display, by implementing interferometer technology, is presented. Two common interferometer types, He-Ne (X=632 nm) and white light interferometer, are used. The generalized interferometer configuration is intended for practical basis in calibrating Spatial Light Modulator in a much convenient way. Applying sets of grayscale levels in several grayscale patterns are intended to obtain SLM phase retardation characteristic on 632 nm and required accuracy around X/255, along with deeper linearity observation towards its behavior as liquid crystal display.
