Abstract: In using a Radio Control (RC) helicopter to serve as a platform for an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), an autonomous flight stabilization system has to be developed and implemented on the RC helicopter. Such a system is necessary to ensure that the helicopter can be automatically recovered to upright and stable flight when a crash seems imminent as well as to maintain the helicopter in a straight and level hover while capturing surveillance video or photographs. This system should be able to sense the pitch and roll attitude of the helicopter and take appropriate corrective actions.
