Abstract: Discrete manufacturing setup in the packaging industry or the packaging operation of a manufacturing plant is one of most universally observed configuration. Packaging operation always operates under very dynamic and competitive conditions compare to the core product manufacturing operation. High level of flexibility, quick response to market changes, efficient operating conditions at competitive prices are critical success factors for the packaging operation. A manufacturing setup which is fully integrated, controllable, flexible, responsive to market demands, can give an edge to the packaging setup to remain in tune with the market expectations and meet customer demands in the shortest possible time.
