Abstract: Diabetes is an endocrine disease with long history. It can lead to many severe complications such as nerve damage, brain damage, amputation and eventually death if not managed properly. The most advanced technologies for diabetes monitoring and treatment were introduced in this thesis. Research shows that tight control of blood glucose levels could significantly reduce the mortality of diabetic, and non-diabetic, intensive care unit patients by up to 50 percent. An auto-insulin delivery system is necessary and important to help the patients to achieve the tight controlling, which could bring patients great freedom to live as a normal individual instead of a patient.
