dc.description.abstractPhase Doppler Anemometry (PDA), as a single-point optical measurement technique with unique capability of simultaneous measurement of the single spherical particle velocity, diameter and even volume flux, has demonstrated its superior advantage in characterizing many polydisperse flows. However, its application in measuring the plasma sprayed particles is relatively new, and specific considerations for applyingthe PDA technique in the plasma spraying field as well as the specific data interpretation requirement have never been mentioned before. In the present thesis, emphasis was first put on investigating the accuracy of the PDA measured particle diameter and the volume flux.en
