Abstract: Colon cancer is the most fatal form of disease in Singapore. Stents are used in palliative treatment to relieve the blocked intestinal passage and allow normal functioning of the bowel. This research focuses on the design and development of a low-cost colonic stent for the purpose of temporary placement in the colon. We propose a novel interlockable stent design after a thorough review of the relevant research publications and patents on colonic stenting and stent designs.
