Abstract: This thesis presents the development of two new multiobjective GA optimization techniques and its application to the modeling and controller tuning of the hard disk drives. For the drive modeling, two different approaches using black box and grey box modeling are presented. As multiobjective structural and parametric search is required for the modeling, we use the Hierarchical Genetic Algorithms (HGA) in conjunction with two newly developed multiobjective GA techniques.
