Abstract: This report aims to lay a foundation for implementing Imaging Spectrometer on LEO (Low Earth Orbit) satellites. The report starts by suggesting novel ways of using wavelet transform for spectral signature compression and spectral signature recognition. Tests were performed on spectral data from the US Geological Survey (USGS) to prove the concept.
