Keywords: | DRNTU::Social sciences::Economic development::Singapore | Issue Date: | 2010 | Abstract: | In 40 years’ time, Singapore will become the fourth oldest population in the world. Many steps have been taken to prepare the population for this rapid change. This Final Year Project aims to explore the housing options for the retired elderly and how they can be improved to fit the needs of an ageing population. Insights on methods to acquire sufficient income, especially through monetisation of housing, will be provided. The research methodology of this paper involves a survey on students and retired elderly to find out their opinions on pressing issues regarding retirement and housing. Comparisons will be done and differing views will be analysed in deeper context. Based on the survey results, recommendations and suggestions will be made so as to improve the current help schemes to provide better means in monetisation of housing and also adjust composition of housing stock to suit changing preferences in future when the younger generation retire. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10356/38772 | Rights: | Nanyang Technological University | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
