Title: | Bioluminaire. | Authors: | Lim, Daniel Yu-Heng. | Keywords: | DRNTU::Visual arts and music::Design::Product | Issue Date: | 2010 | Abstract: | Bioluminiaire, Creating Possibilities and Appreciation for the Natural world. The mystifying glow emitted by Bioluminescent life- forms can never explain its own allure. Drawn from nature, the poetic quality of light exuded is awe inspiring and calming. This project revolves around the intrigue achieved from these life-forms, and curious experimentation to re-create the mystic, bringing the magic into the home. Examining existing lighting solutions, the aim is to create a new perspective on lightning solutions that would not only be used as functional lifeless products but something of interest and fantasy. Recreating observations from the natural world the aim of this project was to bring together technology and natural phenomenon, providing an avenue for new possibilities. This new perspective on lighting design will also research into how people communicate with their lighting fixtures, exploring the interaction between the user and his product, questioning the idea of how a product should be designed, allowing for better appreciation for a product. Ultimately creating a product that will allow for user manipulation allowing one to modify according to ones preference and needs. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10356/38813 | Rights: | Nanyang Technological University | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
