Abstract: This M.Sc. dissertation discusses digital control strategy for single-phase Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) voltage source inverters used in Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS) for single-unit and parallel-unit systems. Model Predictive Control is discussed for both the single inverter and parallel inverters. In this dissertation, the development of inverter system based on state-space model is first studied. Then MPC is used to implement the control strategy for single inverter and parallel inverters. The experimental setup includes a single inverter and two inverters in parallel using a switch and a debouncing circuit. Experimental results for open-loop and closed-loop single inverter system using a linear and a dynamic load is first presented. Then experimental results for two inverters in parallel are presented.
