Abstract: The Internet relies on thousands of servers around the world, working altogether round the clock. Power strips with different levels of protection are used extensively to power and, to a limited extent, protect these expensive systems.In this report, the design and development of an advanced power strip is presented. This power strip while providing the functionality of a conventional power strip, also incorporates electronics to enable monitoring of the connected load. The power strip provides enhanced monitoring functionality, while confirming to the physical dimensions of a conventional power strip, at a commercially feasible cost.
