Master’s thesis, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.||Abstract:||While awareness for security arises under terrorism threat of today, deployments ofautomated biometric systems are getting popular everywhere in the world. An automated biometric system aims to substitute human in performing identity authentication through certain biological characteristics. When an automated biometric system is put in the unsupervised mode, biometricsamples with insufficient or contaminated features are expected to cause problems. Nevertheless, many biometric systems of today lack the ability to verify whether the presented samples are carrying valid and sufficient features for authentication.
