Abstract: We report a preliminary result on a facile synthesis of Au@[oleic acid]@[polystyrene-poly(acrylic acid)] yolk shell structure using swelling and de-swelling method. The yolk shell structure formed contained a pseudo layer/middle layer is made up of fluid like oleic acid. Using this method, structure morphology control between yolk shell structures and swollen core shell structures were achieved. We proposed that the formation of yolk shell structures is controlled kinetically while swollen core shell structures are thermodynamically controlled.
