Abstract: This thesis contains the formulation of various techniques to overcome the limitations of current three-dimensional vector propagation models based on the uniform theory of diffraction (UTD) and multiple image concept. Current propagation models lack the ability to include large number of multiple edge diffraction and are not able to model cylindrical scatterers accurately. By transforming the geometry from three-dimensional to two-dimensional, we obtained an analytical solution for the point of diffraction on multiple parallel edges. We further extend the technique to solve for the geodesic paths of rays diffracted from cylindrical surfaces. By performing an additional projection transform, the solutions for the points of diffraction on orthogonal edges are also derived. In addition, we have formulated a novel method based on modified ray tracing algorithm to model cylindrical scatterers.
