Title: | Furniture for compact housing. | Authors: | Malhotra, Anchit. | Keywords: | DRNTU::Visual arts and music::Design::Product | Issue Date: | 2010 | Abstract: | In the current fast paced environment dominated by the commercialization and commoditization of products in a capitalist set up, the average person has become more cynical, frustrated and highly stressed. The theme of my Final year Project (FYP) is to create furniture which helps bring the family closer. We are quite familiar to the sight of children locking themselves up in their rooms, working parents being away the whole day and maids taking care of the kids. All this disorientation in most lifestyles has an adverse effect on how the social fabric of a society is spun. There is now a need to go back and discover the brilliance of traditions and values which are now well forgotten. My FYP aims to enable greater family bonding and create an atmosphere of happiness, productivity and efficiency. It also attempts to break the barriers amongst families which globalization has created in society. Alongside my project will try to explore the transient and historical facts which are essential to the very basis of furniture. Instead of going straightaway to a niche‟ idea, I have explore everything about furniture to completely understand those inanimate objects which are hardly given their due respect and importance. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10356/39976 | Schools: | School of Art, Design and Media | Rights: | Nanyang Technological University | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
