Abstract: Medical image analysis is a challenging task that attracts intensive research interest in recent years. Color fundus image analysis is one of the most efficient means of detecting diabetic retinopathy which is characterized with lesions such as exudates, cotton wool spots, and hemorrhages. The main difficulties in lesion detection are noises, inhomogeneous illumination and interference of surrounding objects.
