dc.description.abstract | The present study investigated the differences in acculturation in the school domain and the nonschool domain in a sample of one hundred and forty students of Asian origin studying in Singapore. The participants completed questionnaires that measured their acculturation level to the Singapore culture, identity orientation, language usage, preference and proficiency, peer contacts pattern, and scales for adaptation outcomes which include School Adjustment scale, Asian Subjective Well-Being scale and Asian Mental Health Indicator. Results from the findings supported the hypothesis that acculturation to the Singapore culture was significantly higher in the school domain than in the nonschool domain thus showing differences in acculturation across the domains. However, the acculturation level did not significantly predict the adaption outcomes. | en_US |
