Issue Date: 2010
Abstract: This main objective of this project is studying the growth mechanism and the structural properties of ZnO nanostructures fabricated on graphite fibres. In the literature review chapter, the fundamental physical features of Zinc oxide such as crystal structure, optical properties and mechanical properties of ZnO etc. were introduced first; following by the synthesis methods of ZnO nanostructures. Furthermore, some advanced applications of the ZnO nanostructures were introduced as well. In the next chapter, the experimental of synthesizing the ZnO nanostructures fabricated on the graphite fibres is presented. The main experimental machine is the Thermal Chemical Vapor Deposition (TCVD) system. The scanning electron microscope, transmission electron microscope, and X-ray diffraction machines were used to investigated the characters of ZnO nanostructure. Lastly, the results were discussed based on the pictures got from the experiments.
