Title: | Weather system and cloud monitoring system for rain attenuation | Authors: | Wong, Shirleen. | Keywords: | DRNTU::Engineering | Issue Date: | 2010 | Abstract: | The scope of the project is to study the weather system and cloud monitoring system for rain attenuation. Rain gauge networks were installed beside the satellite dishes to obtain the rainfall rate. The closed-circuit television (CCTV) was also installed with a fisheye lens in order to take 360 degrees pictures of the sky so that the behavior of the clouds can be studied. Software such as Microsoft Excel and Matlab were being used to extract and analyze the data being collected. This report explains the observations made for the threshold of the clouds’ behavior and rain events. The raw data was being processed and analyzed by using software such as Matlab, and Microsoft Excel. The report will also include the specifications and suitable CCTV for clouds monitoring purpose. Lastly, this report will include the analysis and observation between rainfall rate, solar radiation, temperature and the behavior of clouds on days of rain events , clear days and cloudy days. With the comprehensive analyses done, certain relationships can be discovered between solar radiation and the behavior of the clouds. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10356/40721 | Schools: | School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering | Rights: | Nanyang Technological University | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
