Title: | Design of fixed-pitch variable speed wind turbine controller | Authors: | Dong, Feng | Keywords: | DRNTU::Engineering::Electrical and electronic engineering::Electric power | Issue Date: | 2010 | Abstract: | This report intends to present the design procedure and simulation results obtained by the author in Final Year Project No. A1060-091: Design of Fixed-Pitch Variable Speed Wind Turbine Controller. The objective of the project is to design the control loop for the wind turbine conversion system so that we can get maximum power output. Firstly, since wind energy is the promising clean energy which may replace the traditional energy sources, a short introduction is given in Chapter 1. Secondly, the author introduces the basic concept of the wind energy conversion system in Chapter 2. Spilt it into two parts (mechanical and electrical), each parts of the system is briefly described in this chapter Thirdly, in Chapter 3, the control strategies used by the author is given. From the basic concept of the control scheme, the author makes his own designs of each controller used in the system. A novel control strategy of wind turbine MPPT implementation using a permanent magnet synchronous generator and a boost chopper circuit is presented in this chapter. Finally, in Chapter 4, the author design all the blocks and models in the Simulation application based on the control concept developed above. The details of the control loop design is discussed and then from the simulation result, performance of the system is evaluate in Chapter 5. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10356/40737 | Schools: | School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering | Rights: | Nanyang Technological University | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
