dc.description.abstractSchedule-based Manufacturing (SBM) is a paradigmatic shift in Manufacturing Planning and Control (MPC). It is a migration from the MRPII methodology. The approach of MRPII is largely procedural and is basically top-down, however SBM aims to adopt an integrated and responsive methodology capable of meeting the ever changing and increasing competition in market demand. Unlike MRPII, SBM merges the vertical separation of Master Schedule (MS) and Production Schedule (PS) by directly transforming master orders to scheduled works orders. It effectively resolves the differences between Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and Capacity Requirement Planning (CRP) by using the Bill of Manufacture (BOMF) instead of Bill of Materials (BOM). SBM is in fact an integrater of production planning and scheduling, it can provide an integrated solution to materials and resources for manufacturers [2].en_US
