Issue Date: 2005
Abstract: In this project the simulation of the intermixed QW structure is carried out and the samples are characterized using the photoluminescence technique. The universal quantum well interdiffusion model with strain calculation has been developed to gain a further understanding of various QWI techniques and to further optimize QWI process for the long term goal of photonic integration purposes. A finite difference method is employed for this purpose. Through the developed program, the electronic and optical properties of the QW materials can be understood and evaluated, which eventually leads to their improvement and exploitation in commercial photonic integration devices.
