Title: | An investigation into youth's awareness and perceived confidence of media literacy. | Authors: | Lim, Lian Huay. | Keywords: | DRNTU::Social sciences::Communication::Audience research | Issue Date: | 2010 | Abstract: | The focus of this study investigates students’ level of awareness and their perceived confidence in relation to media literacy skills. From direct knowledge of our youngsters’ media experience and exposure, and their technology usage, we get to know their awareness of media literacy. Reviews on recent literature related to views about digital youth and media, studies on youths’ media usage, aspects of the evolving media literacy and being media literate, and linking Bandura’s Theory of Self-Efficacy to critical media literacy, helped in a way to construct a framework that guided this research study. Further, with reference to Neely’s conceptual model, the research framework was constructed to guide the investigation and answer the research questions. Hypotheses among the key elements constructed in finding their relationships were made. A pilot instrument was designed and implemented for the quantitative research. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10356/42443 | Rights: | Nanyang Technological University | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
