Emphases are placed on the geotechnical engineering investigation aspects of the industry which is viewed to be the obstacle to obtaining quality, relevant and reliable data for a sound and economical foundation engineering design. The study reviews the various issues, problems and shortcomings of the geotechnical engineering investigation industry and attempts to propose various measures for improvement.
