Abstract: In this dissertation, the Mandarin tones are recognized and represented graphically by using wavelet transform and fundamental frequency estimation methods. We studied three typical frequency estimation techniques, Average Magnitude Difference Function (AMDF), Short-Time Fourier Transform (STFT) and Time-Frequency Analysis (TFA).
