The development of the Chinese education in Cambodia have been going through many stages, from the beginnings, to maturing and developing, which then came to a halt but was then resurrected to a new prosperous stage today. Among these, Duan Hua Chinese School (DHCS), the largest Chinese school in Cambodia, can represent the history of Chinese education on her own. Through outlining the recent developments of the Chinese society, the study discovers it was not by accident for DHCS to become what it is today in a Southeast Asian nation-state. Hence, this study hopes to bring forth DHCS’s representative traits in Chinese education, through exploring her organization structure, operations model, and the difficulties faced by the management and teachers. It also analyzes the relationship between DHCS and Cambodian society. Survey findings shows that besides the local government’s acceptance, the functional value of the Chinese language is also one of the contributing factors for people picking up the language. DHCS is widely recognized in Cambodia, with local Khmer students amidst children of Chinese descendant being constantly sent in by their parents.
